13th Annual Bear Mountain Scout Day (Snow Sports MB)

Posted on Jan 4 2017 - 4:03pm

Please sign up if you are tentatively thinking about joining this ski/snowboard trip. We need to gauge interest so we can get lift tickets and lodging.

The 13th Annual Bear Mountain Scout Day is on March 4, 2017 from 8:30am - 4:00pm. This offer is available for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. All scouts participating on Scout Day will receive a Bear Mountain Scout Day Patch 2017.

BSA Merit Badge counselors will be on hand to evaluate Scouts and help them work towards their Snow Sports Merit Badge. To participate, Scouts must bring their Snow Sports Merit Badge workbook and Blue Cards.

All Scouts participating in the event receive discounted lift tickets, lessons, and rentals. Attending family members are also eligible for special pricing with no minimum requirement of participants to qualify.

Sign up so we can guage interest and make reservations. Prices are not yet confirmed but we're working on it. Price will include lift tickets, lessons (if needed), lodging, transporation fees, and food. This is just a guess but we're hoping to keep it under $200 per person for the weekend (March 3-5).

Boy Scout Catholic Retreat, Feb. 3 & 4

Posted on Jan 3 2017 - 9:53pm

The Boy Scout Catholic Retreat is at Camp Balboa and is a Friday night - go home Saturday night retreat. That way scouts can attend Scout Sunday at their own parishes (and you can volunteer at the Kook Run!).

The scouts do not need to come as a "troop;" they can each register on their own.

All registered scouts may attend - they do not need to be working on religious emblem.

Scouts that are not Catholic may attend, but they do need to know we will have Mass, pray, and the scouts will learn more about the Catholic faith.

They almost sold out last year so register soon if you would like to attend (or if an AAD candidate, you NEED to attend).

Please help us get this info out to all Catholic Scout families so we can make this the best retreat ever! See attached flyer.

SDIC-BSA sponsored camp for scouts - Three sessions of the camp, March 27-31, April 3-7, and April 10-14, at Fiesta island

Posted on Jan 3 2017 - 8:20am

Attention Scouts suited for the Spring Eagle’s Camp!  Please consider Eagle’s Camp where Scouts can earn any of the 11 Eagle required merit badges offered. Citizenship in the Community, Nation & World, Communications, Cooking, Camping, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Science, Family Life, Personal Fitness, and Personal Management. This is excellent for a young Star or Life Scout who is advancement motivated or for the 17 year-old making that final push to finish before his 18th birthday and, of course, many others. Not a merit badge mill, nothing spoon-fed, Scouts will still put in the work to earn the badge, but do it in an environment that provides time, resources and consistent access to counselors in a way which will maximize your efforts.  In our first two years, of Eagle’s Camp, nearly every participant has reached their pre-camp goal, and has earned 3-6 merit badges.  Our counselor staff is entirely made up of Eagle Scouts who are committed to helping others while maintaining the integrity and honor of the badge.
