Tour Permits

If a unit plans a trip within 500 miles of the home base, it is important that the unit obtain a local tour permit. A national tour permit is required for trips in excess of 500 miles from home or outside the continental United States. (See samples of both in the appendix.)

Tour permits have become recognized by national parks, military institutions, and other organizations as proof that a unit activity has been well planned and organized and is under capable and qualified leadership. These organizations may require the tour permit for entry.

 

PROCEDURE FOR FILING PERMIT

Tour permits must be signed and filed before the outing.

1.  Fill out form.

     a. You'll need information for each driving parent, which can be time consuming.

2. Have troop 776 chair person sign the permit. For troop 776, this contact is located on the troop roster.

3. File the permit with the BSA office is San Diego. You can call and find out about FAXing it.

DRIVERS

All drivers shall provide the following information to the person preparing the tour permit.

KIND, YEAR, AND MAKE OF VEHICLE NUMBER OF PASSENGERS OWNER'S NAME DRIVER'S LICENSE NUMBER WILL EVERYONE WEAR A SEATBELT? PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE COVERAGE
