| Troop 776 is a member of the
Pacific Coast District,
San Diego -
Imperial Council, Boy Scouts of
America. We are chartered by
St. John
Catholic Church and hold our regular meetings in a building at the rear
of the church (1001
Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas, California).
Our Troop serves over 70 young men in Encinitas, Carlsbad, La Costa,
Leucadia and Cardiff. We have 30+ registered and trained adult leaders and a
strong group of very supportive parents who make our program go.
Troop 776 is a "boy-led troop," which means the Scouts run the show. They
choose and plan their activities and outings, run their own troop meetings,
cook for themselves, and train younger Scouts in camping and leadership
skills. They learn by doing, following the traditional patrol method
established over 97 years ago.
Our troop has an active program that combines advancement and outdoor
activities. Recent treks include campouts at the Mataguay Scout Ranch,
Joshua Tree, Anza Borrego, San Clemente and Catalina Islands, the Colorado
River, Camp Pendleton, the Grand Canyon and San Jacinto. In 2005, 10 of our
young men earned their Eagle Scout award and over 80% advanced in rank!
