Zone Pinewood Derby - Thank you!

Posted on Mar 25 2022 - 9:19am

Troop 776 had enough volunteers for the Zone Pinewood Derby last week to get the track assembled and all other equipment going up smoothly. The troop really shined as the race track area included 3 inspection stations, registration pc with monitor for participants to see their information, timing pc, race status monitor, solar generator, gas backup generator, 4 easy-up shades, a PA system and a load of yummy breakfast burritos!

In fact, the KUSI Community Reporter Teresa Sardona featured our Troop prominently on several live segments on the Good Morning San Diego program. Troop 777 lent a hand as well in the morning qualifying races by providing help with organizing the cars for each run and MC'ing the morning races.

We had a really good time and received some really positive feedback from the Zone and Pack leadership. RSLR Zone is considering this to be a yearly event.

RSLR Zone Pinewood Derby, Saturday, March 19

Posted on Mar 11 2022 - 1:15pm

Our Zone, Rancho San Luis Rey (RSLR), is hosting a PINEWOOD DERBY on Saturday, March 19 from 10-3pm. This is also a Scouting for Food Drive so please bring non-perishable food items to donate.

Location: The Shoppes at Carlsbad Mall (Sears parking lot, lower lot, closest to the 78 freeway).

We need Scouts to volunteer to help set up and run the derby track for Cub Scouts to use. Set up folks meet at the Scout Trailer at 7:30am on Sat, March 19. Please sign up on the troop calendar!

Even if you can't volunteer early for the set up, we'd love for you to come out to the derby in uniform with your families to join the fun. In addition to the derby, there will be games and activities.  The focus is Cubs so it's family fun for ALL ages. Come on out!

If you have a pinewood derby car made, bring it! Here is the derby info on the Zone website if you, your friends, or family would like to race a car (just for fun):
